A 69-year-old patient wrote in her diary: “Today, I sit in a hospital bed waiting to have both of my breasts removed. Yet, strangely, I feel happy. I haven’t had health problems until now, and around me, they’re wheeling seventeen-year-olds in wheelchairs to and from surgery…”

Happiness isn’t the absence of problems but our willingness to deal with them, and this story reminds us that even when everything seems bleak, there are still things we can rejoice in.

Pain is part of growing up

– sometimes life closes one door only to force us to move towards something new because most of us aren’t ready for change until circumstances force us. It’s important to know that there are two types of pain – those that just hurt and those that change us. overcoming adversity by staying positive and patient is crucial, and things will fall into place.

Overcoming adversity: Everything in life is temporary

– whether something is good or bad, it will pass. Night gives way to day, day to night, the sun appears after the rain, but just as well, rain can pour after a sunny day. So, if something is good, enjoy it now because it will pass. If it’s bad, don’t fret too much because it won’t last forever either.

Worry and complaining change nothing

– those who complain the most, achieve the least. The same goes for worrying. The worst isn’t failing, but not trying out of fear or complaining without attempting to improve the situation. True happiness comes when we stop complaining about our problems and become grateful for the problems we don’t have.

Overcoming adversity: Scars are a symbol of strength

– never be ashamed of your scars. They are a sign that bleeding and pain have passed, and the wound has healed. They signify that you’ve overcome pain, learned a lesson, grown stronger, and moved forward. Someone wisely concluded – that wounds are the places where light enters us.

Every small struggle is a step forward

– patience doesn’t mean waiting but maintaining a positive attitude as we head towards our goal. This means we’ll endure bad things on our way to what we want. Every small struggle, where we can emerge as winners or losers, is a step closer.

Others’ negativity is not our problem

– people do and say things because of themselves, not others. If they’re negative, it’s because of their experiences or their lack of courage to fight for their dreams. People will find fault no matter what you do or don’t do.

Overcoming adversity: What’s meant to be will be

– things can’t be forced to happen; we can only feel bad trying to. Life should be lived by trusting our intuition, seizing good opportunities, losing and finding happiness in various things, preserving good memories, and learning through different experiences. You might not end up exactly where you wanted, but you’ll end up where you need to be.

The most important thing is to continue

– don’t let bad experiences harden your heart. Don’t be afraid to love again, feel again, laugh again, dream again… because that’s the only way to LIVE.
