Are you among those who panic and hide from the sun by all means possible? Do not worry, you are not alone. In today’s world, where we are bombarded with information and warnings about the harmful effects of the sun’s rays and their negative impact on human health, an increasing number of people are fearful of sun exposure. In this panic fear, we try to protect ourselves as best we can – with hats, scarves, umbrellas, creams, and in extreme cases, we stay indoors just to avoid the sun’s rays and their potentially harmful effects on our skin, hair, and entire body.

Of course, moderation is needed – even in sun exposure, i.e., UV radiation, because in excessive amounts UV rays can be harmful. Spend time in the sun daily, at least 30 minutes, and definitely avoid exposure during the summer in the period when it is extremely strong, between 11 am and 3 pm.

It is a common belief that sun exposure can cause skin cancer. However, are you aware of the data, which is the result of numerous studies and statistics, which shows that contrary to popular belief, the population of people who work in offices and other enclosed spaces are more likely to develop skin cancer? The reason for this is insufficient exposure to ultraviolet rays, which, according to scientists, nourish our cells and the entire body.

It is well-known that heliotherapy (sun therapy) in the past, before the development of modern medicine and antibiotics, was considered a very successful method of combating infections and many other health problems.

It is scientifically proven that sun exposure is necessary and essential for the proper functioning of the organism, so stop being afraid and hiding, and instead, make use of its beneficial effects. Here are just some of the benefits of the sun’s rays on human health:

The Sun is the Main Source of Vitamin D

The most important benefit of sun exposure is the sun’s ability to supply the human body with precious and necessary vitamin D. A deficiency of this vitamin in humans leads to numerous diseases such as high blood pressure, breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer, bone and tooth diseases, muscular system diseases, obesity, multiple sclerosis, depression, diabetes, immune system decline, etc.

The Sun Strengthens the Immune System

Besides increasing energy, endurance, and strength, the sun enhances the production of white blood cells, which are of great importance for suppressing inflammatory processes in the body and for eliminating bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

Exposure to sunlight has been proven to alleviate depression and increase stress tolerance. Research has shown that populations living in areas with few sunny hours often suffer from depression, insomnia, and other problems associated with insufficient sun exposure. Yes, you read that correctly, exposure to the sun can protect you from melanoma. It has been proven that lower levels of vitamin D lead to an increased risk of melanoma.
